A veritable “graveyard” of paving stones—dismantled paving stones, some in good condition—has been discovered in Almaty. Why they aren’t being used or sold to the public remains unknown.
Not long ago, community activist Sanzhar Bokayev discovered an entire “graveyard” of buses near Almaty. This occurred because the municipal bus depot preferred to buy new buses rather than repair them, likely hoping for kickbacks. Therefore, faulty buses, relatively new and purchased with public funds, were left to rot in the “graveyard.”
