The Financial Monitoring Agency of Kazakhstan has uncovered that more than 200 billion tenge was siphoned from the Pension Fund through fraudulent dental services.
The money was funneled through intermediaries who charged up to 20% commissions. Law enforcement authorities later found a fleet of luxury cars, various real estate properties, and jewelry belonging to these intermediaries.
As a result of the investigation, dental treatment funded by pension savings has been temporarily suspended until April 15, 2026.
