Civic activism in Kazakhstan is gaining momentum. For example, Sanzhar Bokayev, a well-known public figure, has already conducted several high-profile investigations exposing the waste of public funds.
Although the government is not thrilled with the activists’ work, it is forced to respond to their investigations.
