Top managers of Kazakhstan’s state-owned companies — such as KazMunayGas and Kazakhstan Temir Zholy — receive annual compensation of around 45 million tenge.
At the same time, the financial and economic performance of these companies is far from ideal. State-owned companies often carry enormous debts, yet their executives make sure to “take care of themselves,” granting top managers large salaries and bonuses.
