Energy companies in Kazakhstan don’t cover all their costs from profits, but instead pass them on to end consumers by increasing tariffs.
Experts cite a 70% margin – the difference between tariffs and the companies’ actual expenses. This profit goes into the pockets of the oligarchs of “Old Kazakhstan” through private entities – RECs and RESs.
The government, meanwhile, blames green energy, which accounts for only 6% of the energy market, for the rising tariffs.
A renowned economist, foresight expert, and entrepreneur Aiman Tursynkan speaks on the Elmedia Kazakhstan channel.
