On A. Kasteev Street in Almaty, a new water pipeline has been under construction for several months. Due to the torn-up asphalt, traffic on the street is difficult. But the issue is not just whether they will manage to asphalt the street before winter.
Public activist Sanzhar Bokaev questioned the expediency of this work altogether. There is an existing water pipeline on this street, but there is no sewage system! What is the point of replacing functioning water supply networks if what is really needed is the laying of a sewage system?
The auditing bodies do not have the competence to assess the expediency of the work.
According to Sanzhar Bokaev, the most large-scale corruption in construction projects in Almaty began under the previous mayor, Yerbolat Dosayev.
