The Department of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Financial Monitoring in Almaty Region has completed an investigation into the theft of funds from Almatygazservis-Holding JSC, which supplies natural gas to the region.

The company’s employees responsible for collecting meter readings and accepting cash from consumers transferred money to financially responsible persons. They, in turn, appropriated the funds by hiding payment data in the SymphonyGAS program instead of depositing them into the cash register.
Over two years, a group of company officials, including the director, his deputy, senior operator and senior controller, stole 168 million tenge paid by customers.
By court order, the suspects’ property worth 165 million tenge, including a residential building, an apartment and a car, was seized.
