Speech by Orazala Yerzhanov, Director of the Elge Qaitaru Public Foundation, at the Kazakhstan Press Club. In 2025, the Foundation sent new appeals to the state bodies of Kazakhstan regarding corrupt practices, unjustified privileges and significant losses incurred by the state budget.
The first topic of the press conference was devoted to the long-term strike of oil workers in Zhetybai, Mangistau region. The roots of the problem are in the corruption offenses that accompanied the 2011 deal to acquire by NC KazMunayGas a 100% stake in the authorized capital of Aktaunefteservis LLP.
The second topic: the buyout of assets of BTA Bank and Kazkommertsbank by the Problem Loans Fund. The result of such “financial recovery” was the irrevocable loss of 2.4 trillion tenge of public money.
The third topic is related to the increase in electricity tariffs, which are set by the private company TOO TsATEK Green Energy, which received unjustified privileges from the government.
