The Senate of Kazakhstan recently approved a new law on crime prevention. It provides for penalties for “antisocial” behavior, which is not yet considered an offense.
Interestingly, the law does not precisely define what behavior is considered immoral. Behavior will be assessed by the police, akimats, and so-called “social assistants.”
These “assistants” can record “antisocial behavior” on photo and video, and even use force. The law stipulates that “social assistants” will receive compensation for their activities.
Experts note that this de facto legalization of “snitches” will lead to abuse, corruption, pressure on citizens in everyday life, and overburdening the courts.
